Zane and I hit a local trail for a hike after work and school today. We both were feeling good so we started off with a little jog and ended up knocking out 4 miles in just over an hour including a few breaks to take some photos and practice some parkour moves :-) Not bad for a 7 year-old!
Despite getting a really late start planting, i'm really happy with how the season went. The greenhouse is working awesome and we're still harvesting just a week away from October even with temperatures close to freezing at night. Not bad for being at 8,500'!
Lost track of how many years we have assembled for this camping trip but i'm sure it's been at lest 22 years. I was only able to hand out for a couple days but had a great time. Some Avatar and a great hike up to island lake.
Just an update on the greenhouse
Escaped from the mountains to the burbs today. Zane rode his bike for hours. Great to have the cousins in town to hang with the locals.
We Launched out with the our great friends and next door neighbors Dave, Ben and Carly for the kids first backpacking trip. The kids carried a good amount of gear and did great!
My goal is to try to be able to cross this thing in 4 weeks. Zane and I getting in a little morning practice.
Brewed up an American Wheat friday after work. I'm calling this one Wheat Water! Based on the popular pinball machine White Water! This ought to be good for some summer evening porch sipping. My plan is putting in some rhubarb and strawberries in secondary. I'm only looking for a hint of flavor from them so going to go pretty light.
Here is a little Bongzilla boil jam lol
The feeders are draining almost daily. Even in the dark the little buggers are going strong. Camped out on the deck for a few minutes and was able to get a decent shot.
Zane and his Pack 285 buddies volunteered to pace flags over the Memorial day weekend. It also gave us a chance to visit Grandpa and Grandma Leyba as well as Grandpa Ransom. We were fortunate that Zane was able to actually place the Leyba's flag himself.
